KISC has several sports facilities including a futsal pitch, basketball court gym (weights and aerobics) a large hall, and a large grass sports field used for:

  • Ultimate frisbee

  • Volleyball

  • Netball, and

  • Cricket

We also have two table-tennis tables which provide huge amounts of enjoyment for both students and staff. And, we have access to a local swimming pool both for swimming lessons and competitions.

Inter-house competitions

During the year, students participate in inter-house sports events. These are always hotly anticipated and exciting days where students are encouraged to wear their house T-shirts and cheer their house on. Amidst the intense competition, it is amazing to see the camaraderie between the houses with students all rooting for and supporting each other, regardless of which house they are in. The competitions include:

  • Zuala Cup (Basketball) - (TBD)

  • Swimming Gala - (Dhaulagiri)

  • Football Tournament - (Annapurna)

  • Athletics - (TBD)

The winning house for each competition is awarded a trophy; 2024-25 winners are shown in brackets.

Inter-school competitions

As well as KISC being a regular participant in inter-school competitions, our PE Department is looking to develop further mutually beneficial relationships with other schools across Kathmandu.

Basketball

In the summer of 2024, KISC hosted an inaugural 3 vs 3 basketball tournament for U12 and U14 boys and girls from various schools across Kathmandu. There was a fantastic turnout of 12 schools that took part, and the on-court was thrilling! Congratulations to all the winners and especially the U14 KISC boys who won their category with a last-second (literally) score!

Earlier in the year, the girls’ team had an outstanding tournament 3 vs 3 tournament away from home. They got to the final winning five consecutive games against tougher opposition. And, they came very close to winning the tournament, losing by just one point to finish as runners-up. Congratulations!

Football

KISC U12 boys took part in an inter-school futsal tournament held at KISC, where 12 schools were split into four groups, the top two from each group going through to the quarter-finals. Having come top in their group, KISC also won against a more fancied opposition in the quarters, before losing their semi-final. Congrats to KISC on coming in a well-deserved 4th place.

Dhaulagiri House won the 2023-24 Athletics trophy

NISSA League

The annual NISSA tournament takes place every Spring. Featuring several schools from across Kathmandu, the boys’ basketball team and girls’ football team play each team once before going on to the knockout stages. Given the limited experience of both teams of playing tournament sport, both teams gave strong performances with the girls coming third overall, and the boys a very creditable 4th. Well done to both teams, a great learning experience and we look forward to next year’s league.

House T-shirts are available in different sizes for purchase from the Reception.
