Only students and staff will be allowed onto the site during the school day. This is to minimise the risk of transmission of infection. Online learning will continue with the addition of enrichment experiences for those on site. At breaks and lunchtime, students will be able to interact with their peers, but will need to observe social distancing. Research shows that, provided social distancing is followed, the risk of transmission in well ventilated areas such as outside, is greatly reduced. The health benefits of children being able to interact outweigh the possible transmission in such an environment. Children can continue to wear their mask outside if they so choose. Break times and lunchtime will allow students to play with others in their bubble, but there will not be any organised activities during these times.

Buses will be running, but they will have Covid secure measures in place to keep students in a minimal transmission environment. This will include clearly marked areas for seating with physical distancing, mask wearing, temperature checks, sanitizer, and increased airflow.

Students will be able to go outside in order to eat and drink at break and lunch. Once outside they can remove their mask in order to eat or drink. If it is necessary to eat or drink during a lesson, the student should ask their supervisory staff for permission to go outside to do this. Such requests should be kept to a minimum and it needs to be recognised that the supervising staff may refuse the request if it is unnecessary, and ask the student to wait until the next break or lunchtime.

Inside the building, mask wearing is compulsory for students from Grades 1 to 12. Students pre-K and K will not be required to wear masks. The key protection protocols will be ‘Hands, Face, Space’. Hands: We all need to wash our hands regularly, and where we can’t wash our hands, we use sanitizer to provide some protection. Face: We need to wear a mask indoors at all times unless we are a member of staff working on our own in an empty space such as an office. Outdoors it is the choice of the member of staff or student whether they wish to wear a mask, but also to be aware of the dangers of mask wearing during heavy exertion. Space: We need to maintain social distancing at all times, indoors and outside. Everyone must stay at least 1.5 metres away from other people to minimise the possibility of transmission of infection.
